RESPONSIBILITIES
Peraton is seeking a Hardware Linux Technician to join our team of qualified and diverse individuals. The qualified applicant will become part of Department of State (DOS) Consular Affairs Enterprise Infrastructure Operations (CAEIO) Program, for the Bureau of Consular Affairs (CA). The program provides IT Operations and Maintenance to modernize the legacy networks, applications, and databases supporting CA services globally.
The Hardware Technician will be a member of the CAEIO Post Admin Support Team, working closely with CAEIO colleagues, DOS leadership, and other stakeholders to monitor performance, faults and security service delivery and solutions to automating IT enterprise monitoring services and related business processes.
Responsibilities
- Builds, configures, monitors, and maintains Oracle Enterprise Linux systems.
- Installs, configures, troubleshoots, resolves complex issues, and supports ongoing usability of servers, SAN SW/HW, and peripheral Commercial-Off-the Shelf (COTS)/ Government-off-the-Shelf (GOTs) technology.
- Configures, operates, and maintains Dell PowerEdge Servers and Dell Power Vault Storage.
- Builds, configures, monitors, and maintains VMWare virtual hosts, including virtualized servers and datastores.
- Uses Ansible and Puppet to automate deployments.
- Uses tools and system checklists to ensure successful implementation of services into production.
- Implements hardening settings to improve security posture of endpoints.
- Ensures all servers meet approved and required patches on a quarterly basis.
- Uses performance and security monitoring tools and daily checklists to identify and respond to issues, vulnerabilities, and threats.
- Provides 24x7 technical support to meet SLA agreements.
- Performs Tier II problem resolution on the telephone or over other remote means, walking users through a series of steps to determine problem.
- Performs root cause analysis of infrastructure related issues.
